Die Geel Sambreel is the third children’s picture book written by Hélène Ferreira and the first in Afrikaans. The book is written in rhyme, like the lyrics of a song. The layout of Die Geel Sambreel is reminiscent of the style of a coffee table photo book. This is a travelogue of the umbrella’s superhero adventures. The reader is left wondering whether this is a magic umbrella, whether it is accidentally animated by the elements or if there is a Higher Power involvement in these apparent rescue efforts.
